Chasing Carrots Coaching and Consulting

Hi, I'm Stella!

I have been working in HR for 20 years and have held management positions in a wide variety of industries over the last 10 years. I have seen, learned and heard a lot and have supplemented my expertise as a manager, mentor and mediator with the methodological competence of a NLP Master training (certified according to DVNLP).

I firmly believe that everyone has the resources within them to bring about the changes they want at their own pace. That it is ok if you are not ok, and that in any change process, the first step requires the most courage. I can help you take that first step, figure out where you want to go and what is holding YOU back from achieving your goals.

My journey - Where do I come from?

Originally I come from Lake Constance, more precisely from Constance, and I still feel very connected to the region, especially because it represents for me what I am all about: diversity. Three countries, water, mountains, a Mediterranean climate (often), many different people, different dialects and regional festivals, traditions and special features that often vary greatly from village to village.
When I was at school, I moved to the other end of Germany (rather involuntarily) to the North Sea in Wilhelmshaven. A complete change, a feeling of being uprooted (the end of the world during puberty) and then, after a certain amount of time getting used to it, a very formative experience that made me realize: I can be at home anywhere and I can find people everywhere who tick like me.
After graduating from high school, I first went back to my old home, to the University of Konstanz, and studied what suited me best at the time: literature and art history (yes, I still became something), and I am very proud of this degree, but more on that later.
A year in New Zealand later (still not sure how I managed that back then and a quiet regret that I didn't stay there longer), many trips to the remotest regions of the world (and also less remote regions), I ended up in Berlin in 2009. And here, too, I was and still am fascinated by what makes me tick: the diversity of people, opportunities, backgrounds, history, innovation...
Where will this path take me? I don't know, but I'm looking forward to it and have learned that every change, everything new, unknown and foreign can be intimidating at first, but at the same time offers a wealth of opportunities that can be explored.

My professional Background

Coming from a background in literature and art history (watch out for the orchid subject), I slipped into HR work like the virgin into pregnancy-completely unprepared.  But I never looked back and stayed there with a lot of joy and passion.

The first few years were definitely learning the tools of the trade from scratch. Very solid, but always in an environment that was extremely fast-paced and with a lot of "pressure on the boiler". Where figures had to be met, with no budget, and we had to work under constant pressure from the client with constantly upwardly adjusted targets.
As an HR professional in such an environment, you grow into a role where you hold the place together and are somehow the sparring partner, mother of the nation, trusted confidant, secret keeper, butt-kicker and second brain for everyone. You create a good environment in which everyone can give their best and be supported in the best possible way in pressure and stressful situations. You mediate conflicts and resolve other conflicts. You examine everything from different perspectives and try to find the best possible solution, make compromises, celebrate successes and digest defeats. And along the way, you learn to love people in all their facets. In good times and bad, so to speak, while, once again, holding the place together.

Why I do what I do

And the longer I did my job, in a management position, with direct HR responsibility, responsibility for company goals and employee well-being, responsibility for people and numbers, the more I questioned: what are my goals, what are my values, what do I stand for as a Stella, as a person, as a person in a management role, as part of the HR department, as part of a team. And the more I questioned, the clearer it became for me where I want to go, what I need, what defines me and how I can be the best Stella without burning out. And in this process, I overturned some things in my life in order to build something new. Coupled with the desire to accompany other people on this path in a way that there is no room for in my HR role. That's why I'm here and I'm looking forward to what's to come.
